Due to a family emergency, I will be out of town until Monday or later. The final exam will go on as scheduled, someone else will proctor it. Do not slide anything under my door that cannot wait until after grades are due. Instead scan and E-mail it. I will be checking E-mail but I won't have alot of time on Friday to answer messages. |

Grading Update 3:Midterm Exam Grades Ready The test was harder than I thought. To bring the average up a bit I've added bonus points based on the answers to Problems 4, 5, and 7. See the grades pages for details. This adjustment lifted the average from 41.3 to 49.0. Still, I want the students who did below average to do much better on the final. The final will probably contain problems similar to Problem 1 and 2 on this test. Anyway, the grade range is [92,14], with a median of 41. Grading Update 2:When I left work last night the exams were at the edge of my desk over the trash bin. After I left they slipped off the desk and into the bin, later the janitor emptied my bin. Fortunately the location of the discarded trash has been identified, unfortunately some used frying oil from Pierre's was discarded at the same time. The exams recovered so far are readable but you might want to keep them in a plastic bag. Anyway, problems 1-6 have been graded. Test grades should be available later today. |
