Updated the Homework 6 code with tracing functionality. Module mag_seq (Problem 1) has sample code for tracing simulation of your module. To activate it change the test number in the if statement. Similar code can be placed in the mag_pipe module. |

Class ended as we were discussing the cost tradeoffs between the combinational and sequential shifters. In preparation for Wednesday's class I asked everyone to think about the cost of the sequential shifter, and the width (w) at which a lg w-stage combinational shifter would cost the same as the sequential shifter (that included only one shift unit). |

Homework 3 Problem 1b clarified. The bullet point providing a hint on the logic is_dig now points out that the logic generating is_dig includes the logic generating is_dig_09 and is_dig_af, and you should look for optimization in those expressions too. |

Detailed instructions for remote access and class notes will be posted tomorrow. For now: Install a VPN client, see these instructions. Find a computer name here. Connect to that computer using PuTTY or some other SSH client.. Many Unix-derived systems, including Mac OSX, have an ssh client built in (no PuTTY needed). For those use, ssh -X NAME.ece.lsu.edu -l ee4702XX. |
