What is the IGVC?
IGVC is an annual robotics competition hosted by Oakland University in Rochester Michigan.
What is the competition?
The competition consists of three parts: Autonomous Challenge, Design Challenge and Navigation Challenge.
Autonomous Challenge
Vehicle must navigate through a closed circuit course at a maximum speed of 5mph avoiding obstacles and following lanes without human intervention or guidance.
Design Challenge
Team is expected to submit a design report and give an oral presentation to a panel of judges explaining and de-fending the design strategy. Each team is given points based on performance in each of these challenges. Winner of this competition is deter-mined by the team with the highest number of points.
Navigation Challenge
Vehicle must navigate itself to at least seven way-points while maintaining a maximum speed and avoiding obstacles. Waypoint are given via GPS coordinates.
