LSU ECE Seminar Announcement and Schedule On Tuesday, 10 December 2024, 10:00 - 11:00, in Room 3107 Patrick F. Taylor Hall: Sources of Electric Energy: Important Questions but Strange Answers Leszek Czarnecki Division of Electrical \& Computer Engineering, Louisiana State University Abstract--This seminar will present several observations on harvesting energy from renewable sources, such as wind farms, and from nuclear and gas/oil-driven plants, as well as on the effects of the World's population and carbon dioxide upon global warming. Some questions will be formulated as to the cost of the transition from the traditional power system to a system based on renewable sources and on the question of how our opinions in this respect are shaped. The questions in the seminar are formulated from the perspective of a person who is not, however, an expert on renewable sources of electric energy or climate change but has some expertise in an associated area, namely, on the very fundamentals of power engineering, and the author of a book, in print, by Oxford University Press, "Powers and Compensation in Circuits with Nonsinusoidal Currents".
