It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dr. Eugene Tims, a retired professor emeritus of electrical engineering; he passed away on February 2, 2012 at the age of 90. From his tenure as an EE faculty member, through his many years of service as an ECE Advisory Board member, he never lost the desire to teach others and to expand his knowledge of the world. The Department benefited from Dr. Tims' contributions across the years and he will be missed.

The 2009 LSU IEEE Student Chapter placed 54th among more than 700 teams worldwide at the IEEExtreme Programming Competition. This competition is a global challenge in which teams of student members compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. Full Story
