Biographical Sketch

Received the BS degree from Tehran University, Tehran, Iran in 1977, and the MS and PhD degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1983 and 1987, respectively, all in electrical engineering. His doctoral research was in the area of predictive quantization of autoregressive and composite random processes.  During 1978 he was on a scholarship studying at the Philips International Institute, Eindhoven, the Netherlands, where he also did research with the telecommunication switching group of the Philips Research Laboratories.

Since August 1987, he has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, where he is currently an Associate Professor. His research and teaching interests are in digital communication, computer networks, wireless networks, information theory, and coding.  He has published over 40 technical papers in these areas, has acted as principal investigator on several research projects and grants and has given many invited lectures. His current research is focused on the design and evaluation of high speed communication networks. Dr. Naraghi-Pour acts as a referee for several international journals and as a reviewer for several major book companies. He has provided professional service on several committees and served as session organizer and session chair for several conferences.
