WASHINGTON (11 October 2011) — IEEE-USA is seeking applicants for Engineers Week’s new program, the “New Faces of Engineering: College Edition.” The contest is open to IEEE student members in all 10 IEEE regions.

“College Edition” is for third-, fourth- and fifth-year students enrolled in a bachelor of science engineering program at an ABET-accredited college or equivalent international institution, and have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0. The initiative is designed to recognize students whose academic success, contributions and experiences in engineering have them poised for future success.

The application is available on Facebook at www.facebook.com/CollegeEdition. Winners will be announced Dec. 5 and featured on the page, and their hometown and college newspapers will be notified.

Nominations opened in September and are due 21 October 2011.

“College Edition” also provides a forum for engineering students to communicate with the National Engineers Week Foundation throughout the year and to learn about academic and professional development opportunities, events, licensure exams, internships, jobs, competitions and more.
