Multiple Tenure-track positions at all levels

Electrical and Computer Engineering and LSU CAPITAL

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Louisiana State University, in partnership with LSU CAPITAL (a new Center for Computation and Technology) seeks outstanding candidates for multiple tenure-track positions at all levels. Of particular interest are highly qualified candidates with a history of inter-disciplinary research and interest in commercial applications of their research. We are especially interested in candidates with research interests in signal and image processing, computer vision, special-purpose architectures for image and signal processing, RF microelectronics, and integrated circuit design for wireless communication. The positions advertised here are designed to increase the participation of the department in interdisciplinary research with various other research groups on campus. The ECE department has added several new faculty and expects to grow substantially in partnership with CAPITAL over the next several years.

LSU CAPITAL is a Louisiana funded effort, led by its director, Prof. Edward Seidel, with a permanent budget of $9 million/yr to enhance the information technology efforts at LSU. Much of this funding is being used to create several dozen new faculty positions in the computational sciences across many disciplines, including computational mathematics, computer science, nanotechnologies, astrophysics and relativity, fluid dynamics, bio-informatics, and others. New faculty members will be expected to develop their own high profile, interdisciplinary research programs that complement existing national and international CAPITAL projects. To enhance these activities, the Center has developed active visitor and fellowship programs. As part of the initiative, LSU already hosts one of the fastest supercomputers in the world, a 1024 node Beowulf cluster.

The candidates should have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, be capable of teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in electrical and computer engineering, and have an excellent track record in research. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Release time and resources can be provided in order to enhance the development of a quality research program. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled. Please send a resume, names of three references and a statement of teaching and research interests to itsearch@ece.lsu.edu (preferred) or mail your application packet to
