The department's Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Accreditation is based not just on what we teach, but how we decide on our educational objectives and outcomes, the way we evaluate how well they are being met, and how we use those evaluations to tune our program. This feedback loop helps us continuously improve our program efficiently and with relevance.
Using ABET criteria and input from students, alumni, and employers, the department has developed educational objectives and outcomes for each program. In ABET terminology objectives are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing graduates to achieve and outcomes describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation.
Students, alumni, those from industry, and others with an interest in the department are invited to read the objectives and outcomes and send comments to Jerry Trahan at trahan@ece.lsu.edu.
