How do I get a computer account in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department?
- Any student enrolled in an EE or ECE curriculum or is enrolled in an EE course is automatically granted access at the start of every semester. Typically this is complete by the second week of the semester
- Only EE graduate students are eligible for an ECE Sun Account.
- To apply for an account complete the ECE Sun Account Application form found here or hard copies are available from the Sun Administrator in room 150A in the Electrical Engineering Building. These forms require a faculty member's signature. Return the completed form to the Sun Administrator in room 150A.
- Accounts are usually ready within one business day.
Is printing free on ECE computers?
- No, printing is not free. However, the department does allow each student to print approx. 200 pages per semester free of charge.
Can I access ECE computers from outside the ECE building?
- Certain Windows software can be accessed via Windows Terminal Servers. For instructions click here.
- Some Linux and Sun workstations are accessible from remote locations. Simply SSH to the client you would like to access. The machine name would be <client_name>.ece.lsu.edu
How do I access my files on the Windows network from a remote computer?

- Check your print balance with CZ client on machine you are using. If you still have issues, open a troubleticket.
